The reunion committee was treated to a wonderful supper tonight hosted by Mark and Patty Kratochvil. In attendance were Sue Cavanaugh Ribstein, Nanette Schroeder, Patty Vick, Barb Hauff Koenders, Mike Andersen and his wife Brenda, and John Iverson. The consensus was that we had a great reunion. We plan to do this again in five years, and there were a couple of ideas that will make the next one even better. We will attempt to contact any teachers that are still around, especially those still in Brookings. I dropped the ball by not formally inviting them this year. We also want to personally contact as many classmates as we can who did not attend this year. We think we could easily increase attendance by 20% if we all helped out with this task. We are still lacking current addresses for a few class members, so if you know the locations of any of those hermits, please contact Barb Koenders, who is keeping an updated list of all classmates.
Is someone missing a pair of glasses? When we cleaned up, we found a pair of small, black-rimmed women's glasses with rhinestones. Mark has these, so you can contact him if they are yours.
Our scholarship fund has about $1,700 at present. Robyn (Connelly) and Paula (Hoffman) are in charge of this project, while Mark Kratochvil is the treasurer. Any contrtibutions should be sent to him. We believe we need much more money in this fund before we can begin to bestow this award. We also need to set up some requirements to earn the scholarship. If you have any suggestions or ideas, please contact Robyn or Paula.
Over the next few days, we plan to post some pictures, courtesy of Patty Kratochvil. These four pictures were taken at Robyn's house across the street from the old Central Elementary School. It is being converted into a children's museum by the Dale Larson Family (they make Larson doors and windows; Vern Olson works there and can tell you that the quality of their product is second to none.) Can you recognize those in the pictures? Is that Robyn, Bob Kallemeyn, and Jean McCone in the upper left? Tom Madson, Paula Hoffman, and Al Leibel in the upper right? Georgia Wright and her husband in the lower left? Gerry Albright and wife, and Mark Kratochvil in the lower right? When I previewed these, they were in that order. However, when they are published, they appear vertically. Oh well; just view them in that order, I guess. I just discovered you can enlarge the picture by clicking on it. I'm learning something new every time I work on this thing.
We thank all of you who attended, and hope that we can keep in touch. If any of you want to post on this site, let John Iverson know and he will add you to the authorization list. If you have any pictures that the group would like to see, send them to him and he will post them if you do not want to post them yourself.
