Martha Sterud and Stan Lorenz

Lloyd Sterud passed away recently. He was Martha's uncle and the father of Dan, who was a year ahead of us in school. Dan was a wrestler and football player, but some of us remember him best as the catcher of the teener baseball team that went to the 1965 national teener tournament in Hershey, PA. On that team were Jud Bergan, a pickup player from Watertown, and Lloyd Beneke (another football player and wrestler), and Phil Trautman, who were both a couple of years ahead of us in school. A number of players were only a year older, including Dan, Chip Kabrud, Barry Buehler, Don Tordoff, Jim Arndt, and Randy Hofer. From our class were Tom Bozied, Bernie Hendricks, Tom and Walt Osterberg. A couple of younger players were Doug deBoise and Tim DeWitt. The coaches were Bernie VanEssen and Bob Webbenhurst. I believe Lloyd and the fathers of Chip Kabrud, Barry Buehler, Tom Bozied, and Tim DeWitt were our chaperones. If I am in error, let me know. Dan was a guidance counselor in the Brookings School system in the late 70's, early 80's (I think; the years have all fused together). Here is the obituary for Lloyd Sterud, courtesy of the Brookings Register webpage:

I also noticed this obituary in the Sioux Falls Argus Leader of June 18, 2010. Is this the mother-in-law of Stan Lorenz who graduated with us?
